Lassie gets eaten-no joke.

I got this news from another friend. It's pretty shocking what happens to animals in this country!
First they beat them, now they're eating them!
My advice: Keep your pets on a tight leash, or better yet, keep them in your house...and let them sleep on your bed.
Mowgli and Peanut believe that they're much safer in an air-cond room, far away from potential dog eaters.

Cross-country: Lodge reports if pets go missing
27 Feb 2007
Lau Meisan

JOHOR BARU: Owners of missing pet cats and dogs should lodge reports with the police and Veterinary Services Department to enable claims that foreign workers had caught and eaten the animals, be investigated.

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Johor Baru vice-president Jacqualine Gomez said if the allegations were found to be true, action would be taken against the workers.
Offenders could be charged under the Animal Ordinance 1953, which provides for a maximum fine of RM200 or a jail term not exceeding six months.
Gomez said some residents in Taman Seri Bahagia, though claiming to have seen foreign workers trying to catch their pets, had refused to lodge reports.
"Some said it was too troublesome and the police might just brush aside the matter as it involved only animals."
It would be good if anyone could provide the society with video recordings or clips of the animal thefts, she added.
"Swift action can help save other animals from suffering the same fate."
Pets and stray animals in Taman Kota Masai and Taman Seri Bahagia had gone missing over the past few months.
Residents are keeping their pets off the street as rumours have been going around that drug addicts are selling them to foreign workers at RM5 per head.
There were claims that the foreign workers ate the animals, and some owners said they found the skins of their pets in rubbish bins.
